Reading an article about Corona virus from the New York Times, I have come across to the word "tally" in "Officials in Hubei revised their case tallies....." and it quickly reminded me of my colleague whom I used to work with at Burjeel hospital, Abu Dhabi, back in 2014.
She was Ms. Annelynne, from the Philippines. I still remember her asking me whether or not my cash and card payment collections were being tallied to those already posted on the system.
To be fair, it was my first time ever to hear such a word, and I had no idea whatsoever what it meant at the time. I don't even remember what answer I had given. After I had been at the hospital accommodation, I looked it up, and found what it meant. I felt so bad, and even ashamed of myself.
If there is something that can be learned form such a situation, it will be to stop dwelling on it, and start working on fixing what had caused it instead.
