Have you ever felt the joy of finding out what a word means? I just did.
Continuing my reading of the New York Times article about Corona virus, I have encountered the word"skies" - the plural of 'sky'.
The title reads: " Crisis in China affects the skies : 13.000 flight cancellations."
To be honest, I have come to know that 'skies' is the plural of 'sky' only when I looked the word up in Macmillan Online Dictionary, and the way it is pronounced caused a surprise to me as well.
Knowing that it is the plural of 'sky', it has become clear why the word 'flight' was used there.
